A Unique Opportunity for
the New Economy

BarterItOnline will play a lead role in enlarging on the existing technique of auctioning Internet media, but do so by enabling buyers purchase such media through non-cash transactions.

Traditional, off-line barter exchanges have not enabled business owners and entrepreneurs to trade nationally or globally. Instead, due to practical restrictions, participation has been largely limited to local business owners and professionals. BarterItOnline changes forever that approach, by welcoming a vast new group of businesses with the need to strengthen their enterprises with the most basic and effective form of B2B--bartering.

Off-line barter exchanges have flourished by offering transaction centers in which sellers can move excess inventory, maximize sales, receive full value for merchandise that might have reduced appeal and value in the cash-only marketplace, and leverage buying power by using existing inventories to finance other business or purchases. Those attractive features of bartering are only enhanced with the ability of trading online in a truly global marketplace.

Bartering also works particularly well for "soft" products whose value is time-dependent, such as hotels and airlines, which is why, for example, the National Association of Trade Exchanges estimates that hotel and motel room nights alone accounted for some $730 million of annual barter. For the seller, the attractiveness of selling the rooms or air flights through a barter exchange is that the value of the room night or the flight is normally not discounted; that is, the seller realizes the full sale value of the commodity and is able to take the profits from the sale and purchase other goods and services on which he or she may have formerly been spending cash.

"Savvy online executives are learning that bartering is a useful tool to conserve cash, find new customers and build brand. In fact, once venture firms begin to put the squeeze on companies they fund to devote less capital to brand building via advertising, barter transactions will be a fundamental means of survival."
--The Iconocast

§BarterItOnline has a unique opportunity to broker part of the $200 billion spent annually on U.S. advertising, including online advertising and some 70% of banner ads that go unsold. Advertisers benefit by being able to sell available space at full rate card rates—in trade—as opposed to selling for cash at deep discounts.
